6 Now an angel of the Lord said to Philip, “Go south to the road—the desert road—that goes down from Jerusalem to Gaza.” 27 So he started out, and on his way he met an Ethiopian eunuch, an important official in charge of all the treasury of the Kandake (which means “queen of the Ethiopians”). This man had gone to Jerusalem to worship, 28 and on his way home was sitting in his chariot reading the Book of Isaiah the prophet. 29 The Spirit told Philip, “Go to that chariot and stay near it.”
30 Then Philip ran up to the chariot and heard the man reading Isaiah the prophet. “Do you understand what you are reading?” Philip asked.
31 “How can I,” he said, “unless someone explains it to me?” So he invited Philip to come up and sit with him. Acts 8:26-31
I have heard so many people say, "I don’t read the Bible because I don’t understand it." Well, I find it interesting that the eunuch was reading the book of Isaiah. He had no understanding of what he was reading, but he had a desire to learn. If we would make an effort to desire God’s word, guess what? Just like He did for the eunuch, He will send you a teacher, and some help. The eunuch proved that you don’t have to understand God’s word in order to read it. But if you want to understand God’s word, you must first pick up His book and read it. That which you don’t understand, he will send someone to help you understand.
I’m not saying stay home and read and pray for a prophet to fall out of the sky. No. Most of us have the means to get to a Bible study; do your part and go there so you can be taught. Please don't say “they are all hypocrites,” because that's a lie from the pit of hell. I refuse to believe that every Apostle, Minister, Preacher, Prophet, Evangelist and Pastor are hypocrites. I'm not a hypocrite, and I know several men and women of God that are real. There are some of us that are trying to live right. We truly love God, we have a heart for God’s people. Truth be told, some of your friends, family, coworkers are hypocrites, but you still kick it with them. The world is full of hypocrites but you still kick it with them.
Enough with the excuses. Read your word and get to the house of God so you can be taught. Oh, I know the second excuse, “well the Bible is written by man so I don’t believe it.” Newsflash, that college book you read and paid for is man written. That gossiping magazine is man written. But we will believe everything in it, but won't believe the Bible? That is the enemy deceiving you. Let's stop making excuses!
Be Blessed.
