God Gave You the Idea… Now What?

ree

You’ve been praying. Listening. Journaling.

And then—bam. God drops an idea in your spirit.

Maybe it’s a business.

Maybe it’s a podcast.

Maybe it’s a nonprofit, a new service, or a community to build.

At first, you’re excited.

But then comes the overwhelm... the fear… the questions.

“Was that really God?”
“Where do I even start?”
“What if I get it wrong?”

Sis, if that sounds like you—you are not alone. So many faith-driven women are sitting on God-given ideas, waiting for the perfect moment or all the clarity before they take a step.

But here’s the truth:

  • Clarity often comes after obedience.

  • You don’t need the whole blueprint to begin.

  • You just need to take the next faithful step.

Let’s talk about 3 powerful ways to do that, right now.

1. Start With a Business Meeting With God

Before you Google, brainstorm, or start building out the website… go to the Source.

Having a business meeting with God is a powerful way to gain clarity, peace, and confidence about your next move. This isn’t just a “God, what do You want me to do?” moment. It’s an intentional sit-down with the Lord to partner with Him in the planning process.

Bring a notebook. Ask questions like:

  • Is this idea from You—or just a good idea?

  • Is this for now, or for a future season?

  • What does success look like in Your eyes, not mine?

Sometimes the idea is from God, but the timing isn’t. Other times, the idea is for someone else. And often, what He wants is simply for you to take a first step—not launch the entire thing at once.

Taking time to seek Him first will not only clarify the idea, it will align your definition of success with His heart—which protects your peace as you build.

2. Don’t Build in Isolation—Seek Wise Counsel

One of the most overlooked keys to momentum in your calling is community and mentorship.

Yes, God gave you the idea—but that doesn’t mean you’re meant to pursue it alone. Scripture reminds us that “Plans fail for lack of counsel, but with many advisers they succeed” (Proverbs 15:22).

Whether it’s a coach, a mentor, or a group of like-minded Christian women, wise counsel can:

  • Help you move faster by avoiding common mistakes

  • Encourage you when doubt creeps in

  • Give you strategy that aligns with your values

  • Hold you accountable when the journey gets hard

Even free resources—like books, podcast episodes, online trainings, or YouTube videos—can be forms of mentorship. The key is getting around people who have either been where you are or are going where you’re headed.

You don’t have to figure it all out alone. God often confirms direction through relationships—so make space for wise voices as you build.

3. Write Down the Fear, Then Take the First Step

Here’s something most Christian women don’t talk about enough:

Many times, the thing stopping us isn’t confusion. It’s fear.

Fear of failure. Fear of doing it wrong. Fear of what people will think. Fear that we didn’t really hear God.

Sound familiar?

That’s why the most powerful step you can take after receiving a God-given idea is to name that fear, write it down, and surrender it.

Literally. On paper. Ask: “What am I afraid of right now?”

Then follow it with: “What does God say about that?”

Scripture says in Philippians 2:13 that God gives you the desire and the power to do what pleases Him. If He gave you the idea, He’ll equip you to carry it out—even when it feels bigger than you.

And once that fear is named and surrendered?

Take the first next step. Not the whole plan. Not the 90-day launch. Just the next thing:

  • Write the vision down

  • Claim the Instagram handle

  • Reach out to someone for guidance

  • Create a simple outline

  • Or go back to Step 1 and have your meeting with God

Clarity grows through movement. Faith is proven through steps. And purpose unfolds through partnership with Him.

Final Thoughts

If you’ve been sitting on a God-given idea, it’s time to stop doubting and start doing.

Not perfectly. Not quickly. But faithfully.

Remember:

  • Seek Him first

  • Surround yourself with wise support

  • Surrender the fear and take one step

You don’t need to see the full staircase to move. Just take the next faithful step—and trust that God will meet you there.
